Here are some pictures from my week in Nicaragua, June 6-12.

at Laguna de Apoyo, a warm lake formed in the crater of long-ago erupted volcano. It has to be one of the most beautiful places in all of Nicaragua.

We also went to an active volcano - Volcan Masaya. It was so active that it was spewing enough gas that we couldn't take a hike around the crater like we were planning. Instead we hiked up a small hill to a cross. They recommended you only stay in this area for 20 minutes because of the gases - they started to affect your breathing.

This was my lunch one day. I ate lots of chicken and plantains.
