The Winnowing Season is the 2nd book in the Amish Orchards and Vines series by Cindy Woodsmall. This story picks up essentially where the first book left off, but it is not necessary to have read the first book to enjoy the second. After a tornado strikes their community, Rhoda Byler decides to partner with brothers Samuel & Jacob of Kings Orchards and move to Maine for a fresh start. They plan to re-establish an orchard and build a new life for themselves. But before they leave Ohio Rhoda needs to face the Amish leaders who are concerned about some of her past behavior.
The move to Maine brings up many challenges, and strains Rhoda's romantic relationship with Jacob, as well as making her question her feelings for Samuel.
I usually am not a huge fan of Amish fiction. I live in a community with a large Amish population and feel the Amish are often misrepresented. That being said, Cindy Woodsmall is one of the best authors in this genre, in my opinion.
