Winter is here

We finally got more snow this weekend. We had rain around New Year's and a week later - about 6 inches of snow. Some of it was from a system that moved through, and some was "lake effect" snow, which forms when conditions are right with wind and the temperature of Lake Michigan. South Bend, only about 25 miles to the west, got 2 1/2 feet of snow yesterday - all lake effect! I'm just glad for some snow instead of the grayness of dead grass and bare trees.

Then this morning I woke up to fog and heavy frost. It was beautiful to see everything white and covered with frost. The picture below is the backyard. It ended up being a beautiful sunny and clear day today, but more snow is predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday.
