To celebrate my friend Susie's birthday on March 27, and Denise's and my birthday on March 29, the three of us spent a day in Chicago on Saturday, March 28. We had talked about taking the South Shore train from South Bend to downtown Chicago, but we realized it would be just as cheap to drive and would give us more flexibility. And Susie loves to drive in Chicago (not me!)
We spent the day exploring downtown, shopping, finding some artwork, and eating Chicago style food. It was a lot of fun and a great way to celebrate my birthday!

"The Bean" in Millennium Park.

Susie and I taking pictures into the Bean. You can get all kinds of interesting pictures here.

Denise and I in/at the Bean. Some Chicago buildings in the background.

We enjoyed eating "Chicago-style" while we were there. For lunch we had Chicago-style hotdogs. Here are Susie and Denise at the hot dog place.

A Chicago style hot dog before consumption. :)

Denise enjoyed the puppydogs at Macy's.

Me with a moose. How appropriate!

I enjoyed a Mexican hot chocolate at Ethel's.

It was cloudy and windy most of the day. Some of the clouds were so low you couldn't see the top of buildings.

Susie and Denise at the Apple store in downtown Chicago, figuring out the closest place to get Chicago style pizza for supper.

American Gothic sculpture. Notice the person standing by the suitcase, and on top of the suitcase. It was a pretty tall piece of art.

Denise standing in front of the WGN Studios. She was very excited to see the origin of all those Cubs broadcasts she listens to on the radio!

The Chicago style pizza we had for supper at Giordano's. It was very yummy!
It was a full day of food, friends, and fun!
