Cubs Game!

On Friday Denise and I had the opportunity to go to a Chicago Cubs baseball game. Denise got cheap tickets through work because the senior class was buying group tickets as part of their senior trip and one of the sponsors invited anyone else who wanted to go the opportunity to get tickets at the group rate. Yeah for us!!

We carpooled up with some friends of Denise's. There were 7 people in a 7 passenger van, but it was still fine. We found free parking on the street (!) about 5 blocks from the stadium, and got there in plenty of time to eat a quick lunch at Subway and explore around the ballpark.

The Cubs played the Florida Marlins and had the lost the game in extra innings the night before. For our game, they got behind early but ended up coming back to win 8-6, mostly thanks to a grand slam homerun by Ryan Theriot. The day was a little cool with a cool breeze for most of the game, but we were under a roof and didn't feel the off-and-on drizzle for the first several innings. I was glad I wore several layers and had my gloves!

The only real downside to the day was that our seats were in the top right corner, about as far away as you could be without being in the outfield. But Wrigley Field is a small enough stadium that the seats weren't bad, especially with the zoom on my camera and binoculars.

We ended the day with Chicago style pizza at Gino's before heading back to Goshen. A fun day!

The bleachers were pretty full considering it was raining at the beginning.
