Below are pictures during our time in Paris - July 1-3.
The view from our hotel room in Paris - we were on the top (8th floor) with windows that actually opened - although opening them turned off the air conditioning.

The Sacred Heart cathedral from our hotel room. It's on a hill overlooking the city on the north side of town. The next morning we went to the Eiffel Tower. There were a LOT of people there, so much so that they weren't selling tickets for the elevator to the top because of congestion. Denise and I instead bought tickets to climb stairs to the first level, which was still very cool.

Celebrating the 100th (?) anniversary of the Eiffel Tower
These vendors were everywhere at the Eiffel Tower, trying to sell us souvenirs for "one euro, one euro, one euro". They weren't supposed to be there, because they went running whenever the police rode their bikes through the area.

Pop was expensive in Europe. 2.50 euros for a can of Diet Coke??? That's over $3.00!!!

Notre Dame Cathedral from the river.
Musee d'Orsay - Orsay Museum.
This was an art museum with Monets and others where we spent half a day. Very interesting! My cousin recommended this over the Lourve because it was a much more manageable size, and still lots to see.
Eiffel Tower from the river. The storm clouds in the background dumped some rain on us soon after this.
At Point d'Alma. Princess Diana died in the tunnel under this roundabout, and this statue (a gift from the US to France to celebrate the gift of the Statue of Liberty) has turned into a memorial for Diana. That's my friend Susie on the right, a huge Princess Di fan.

The famous flying buttresses of Notre Dame.After visiting Notre Dame we proceeded back to Charles De Gaulte (sp?) airport to catch our flight back to London. We didn't like the Paris airport - long lines at baggage check-in, customs, and security, and not very friendly people.
Paris was nice but not quite as nice as I expected. One of my cousins says Paris is his favorite city in the world, so I had pretty high expectations. We had much warmer weather than anticipated (we walked and walked and sweated buckets), and the city was much dirtier than we expected.
