Springfield - Dr. Seuss Sculpture Garden

Our last day in new England was spent in the Springfield, MA area. We found out there isn't really much exciting to do in Springfield on a Saturday, but we did find the Dr. Seuss Sculpture Garden in a park area between several museums downtown. Very cool! It made me want to go back and re-read some of his books.

Finally! The sun, and some warmth!

Denise and I sitting on a bench near the Dr. Seuss memorial. The bags on this bench are pieces of art - metal, permanently attached to the bench. So realistic looking! We thought someone had left their lunch there!

After this we drove to the Hartford, CT airport, dropped off our rental car, and hung out at the airport for several hours until our plane left for Atlanta. Unfortunately we didn't have a direct flight back to Chicago, so instead of like the 2 hour non-stop flight from Chicago to Hartford on the way out, on the way back we had a 2 hour flight to Atlanta, then another two-hour flight to Chicago. Some of Susie's friends were there to pick us up, and after an uneventful ride home we arrived home at 1am on Sunday morning! A great trip, but it was good to be home!
