Cubs game!!

I made it to my second Cubs game of the season! On Saturday, July 4th Denise and I took the South Shore train to Chicago, then caught the Red Line train out to Wrigley Field. We bought pretty good seats on Ebay, much better than the game we went to in May where we were literally about as high up and far away as you could be. This time we were along the third base line.

It was supposed to be sunny and warm but ended up being cloudy and cool. Luckily I didn't freeze to death, but I definitely learned to be prepared for anything at Wrigley Field when the wind in blowing in off Lake Michigan! It started drizzling as we were leaving the game and rained most of the way home. Luckily we were on a train almost the entire time so we didn't get wet.

Unfortunately, the Cubs lost badly (11-3), but it was still fun to be there. We got free patriotic Cubs hats (free to the first 10,000 fans on July 4.) GO CUBS!!!!!

The view from our seats (with no camera zoom)

Rich Harden, the starting Cubs pitcher. He gave up 5 runs in the 1st inning, and three runs in the 2nd inning. Hard to come back from that.

Denise with the famous Cubs scoreboard in the background.

Jeff Samardzija, a Cubs relief pitcher. He was a very popular Notre Dame football wide receiver, and also very good baseball player.

The bleachers were full.

The Cubs played the Milwaukee Brewers that day. Here is a Cubs pitcher pitching to a Brewers batter.

Street scene after the game (from the train).
